With Darren Riste
Every great company has even greater people behind it. At our Solent depot, Darren Riste is one of those people, and his story is part of our ongoing series celebrating the heart and soul of Forkway.
How long have you worked at Solent Forklifts, and what is your current role?
6 Years 5 Months. Parts and Service Controller
What’s your ideal way to start a workday?
I love getting off the boat in the morning and getting a nice cup of tea from Starbucks to wake me up, even better when the sun is out.
What’s your favourite part about working in a close-knit team?
I enjoy working with the team in the office and trying to solve the issues with their trucks.
If you weren’t in your current profession, what career path might you have chosen?
I wish I had got myself a trade when I left school. But I had the dream of wanting to be the next Matt Le Tissier playing for the Saints
If you could have front row tickets to any gig to see any artist/band, past or present, who would you go see?
It would probably be Elton John. I think that would be a good night out.
What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever eaten?
I’m probably the fussiest eater, so it’s a bit boring. It’s probably a curry, as it’s all mixed together, so I can’t see the onions or what else is in it.
What’s your idea of a perfect weekend?
A round of golf and a few beers, finished with a nice Indian takeaway.
